At the initial visit to the orthodontist a panoramic x-ray will be taken along with a set of diagnostic photos. This information is used during your initial consultation with the doctor to determine the best course of treatment for your individual case and to provide you with a cost estimate.
Occasionally for more difficult cases the doctor will recommend an additional appointment to gather a more comprehensive diagnostic record of your case which he will then study more closely and then discuss his findings with you at a follow-up appointment scheduled at your convenience.
If you elect to move forward with orthodontic treatment you will be scheduled for an appointment to complete your diagnostic records. This typically includes one additional x-ray and a set of diagnostic plaster study models. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move during orthodontic care.
The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes from one to two hours. You'll then see us at regular intervals 4 to 8 weeks apart for an adjustment, which takes 20 to 40 minutes. Our regular office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. Cancel only if it is an emergency. It is difficult to reschedule you since most appointments are made 4 to 8 weeks in advance.
Payment & Financial Policies
The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient's problem. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We have payment plans to suit different budgets, including in-house interest free financing that can be spread out over the duration of a patient's estimated treatment time. We also accept most insurance plans, and file the necessary papers to the insurance company. We work hard to make orthodontics affordable and are purposefully flexible in a majority of situations.
If you have insurance, we will help you to determine the coverage you have available. Insurance benefits will be discussed along with all associated fees for your orthodontic care. You will be responsible for any balance left uncovered by your insurance benefit. We will help in every way we can in filing your claim and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf.
